The Interfaculty Assembly held yesterday with students and groups from the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), the National Technological University (UTN), and the National University of the Arts (UNA) voted in favor of carrying out the third Federal University March on November 12. The measure must be debated and approved by universities across the country in the coming days.
New forms of protest have been adopted in rejection of government underfunding, such as a street blockade at the Obelisk on November 1, with a mobilization towards Plaza de Mayo and the headquarters of the General Confederation of Labor (CGT) to demand a national strike on the day of the University March.
Additionally, on November 5 at 5 PM, a meeting will take place at the Faculty of Social Sciences of UBA with the participation of student centers and teaching and non-teaching unions from across the country to organize the third federal university mobilization.
Students confirmed occupations at faculties across the country, scheduled between October 28 and 30, with public classes until the end of the semester. Meanwhile, the Executive Power continues with the audits from the General Audit Office of the Nation (SIGEN), to which UBA opposes, claiming that the President seeks to intervene in public universities to control educational content.
UBA announced a national and international call for independent professionals to conduct a special audit of its internal control system, in order to provide transparent and publicly accessible data. It also seeks to "defend" the principle of academic freedom in university teaching.
